My Dad, The Storyteller

While we are gearing up for Tip Tuesday blogs, we will share our favorite family stories with you. We hope you enjoy the personal stories our team will share over the coming weeks and use them as inspiration for your own family story Weeva book!

My Dad, The Storyteller – Kim Gorsuch-Bradbury

In my family, growing up, we all loved listening to my dad’s stories. Some of them were true or at least based on actual events, and others were pure fabrication. They all came with sound effects, impeccable timing and enchanting delivery. My dad has always had the ability to make me smile and laugh.

The story of Snake Hill has always been a favorite, and I’ve always wondered how my Uncle David would tell it. Sadly, he passed away before I could capture his point of view. Read More

Make This Year Your Weeva Anniversary

Give A Great Anniversary Gift This Year

Our very first client used Weeva to create a 60th Anniversary book for his parents, and since then many customers have followed suit and created books for the couples they love.  For countless reasons, enduring relationships are something to celebrate. Every anniversary is another year you managed to keep your most important promise going strong. Most people know of a few traditional anniversary gifts, but in case you need some reminding (or some ideas of what gift hasn’t already been given after so many years), Weeva’s here to help. Maybe you need the perfect anniversary gift for him, or the most unique anniversary idea for her. Maybe you’re looking for that special gift for your parents or grandparents.

We’ve taken a few liberties in interpreting the rules of gifting, but we don’t think your spouse (or parents or friends) will mind when they see the beautiful collection of memories you’ve gathered for them. Whatever year you’re on, here are some ideas for celebrating. Read More

What’s Your Love Story?

Guest Post by Bena Shah

“You’ve got to give a little, take a little. And let your poor heart break a little.”

In the wise words of songwriter Billy Hill, that’s the glory of love.

True love is rarely simple or straightforward. Most importantly, it is intensely personal. It is for this reason that love stories are among the most compelling ones we read. And gifts that leverage this highly personal nature are often the ones most cherished by their recipients.

Inspired by Valentine’s Day, Weeva is calling all storytellers and contributors to fill a book with love stories of your own. You collect the memories, photos, stories and anecdotes and Weeva will turn them into a gorgeous customized book. Start your book by February 14, 2015 and we’ll take 15% off your entire order.

Whether you aim to celebrate a beloved family member’s anniversary, to surprise a best friend about to embark on the journey of marriage, or even to memorialize the sublime love you share with your own partner, these are wonderful ways to use Weeva.

11 Reasons You Should Write Down Your Favorite Memories

Memories are a funny thing. The most painful ones tend to stick with us for a long time, vividly replaying themselves in our minds, often at the most inconvenient times. If we’d test the theory and say “Give us one bad memory from the past year..” you’d be quick to remember that unpleasant moment. The negative emotions that are associated with it. Let’s say “Give us a good memory from the past year..” and it’ll likely take you a few more seconds to think about what was the best, most favorable one. Even then, you are likely remembering the negative memory a lot clearer and in more detail than your favorite moment of the same time.

Nicholas Sparks wrote in his book “The Wedding” that Read More

Make Writing Easy: 9 Writing Tips You’ll Love

Storytelling has always been an integral part of any society. It goes all the way back to cave paintings and has carried on through the centuries. We have the great luxury to be able to tell stories through several mediums. Whether it be word of mouth, home videos, or even live updates through social media you can share memories with people around you. However, the form of storytelling that has been around the longest without being morphed with retelling is the written word. At Weeva, our bias is that a written story is among the very best ways to share the fullness and richness of your experience.  Especially when that experience is combined with the favorite memories of family and friends. Preparing For Alzheimer’s By Preserving Memories

We always like to think that bad things will never happen to us. Tragedy is something that happens to other people. However, the reality is that there are times when it is better to over-prepare than ignore the facts. At Weeva, each of us knows someone who has a family member with Alzheimer’s or has a family member affected by the disease. We understand the difficulty and challenges that families face when Alzheimer’s is diagnosed. Read More

Favorite Thanksgiving Memories – Food Edition

Something Smells Good!
Remembering Our Favorite Thanksgiving Dishes

Thanksgiving is upon us, and that means lots of cooking and eating with family and friends! We’ve had people make shared family cookbooks with Weeva before, which means we’ve read them cover to cover, and it’s fun to see how people connect around food. Sometimes, just a smell is enough to bring back memories of the past, and everyone has a “secret family recipe” that they’re dying to know the secret ingredient to. Read More

27 Things To Be Thankful For

At Weeva we get to work with gratitude and thankfulness every day we work because we are allowed to witness countless people add their stories, memories and pictures of lives well lived, memories made, friendships that lasted a lifetime, or even memories of people whose lives were cut short. Scrapbooks: New Versus Old Techniques

By Guest Blogger, Emma Collins

At home we have a pile of scrapbooks that I flip through every now and then. We have an entire cabinet full of scrapbooks of not only my sisters and me, but also my parents when they were younger. Every once in awhile, I’ll open them up and look at how much the times have changed. Our older scrapbooks have pictures that were printed out and taped onto the pages, while our newer ones were made online using Shutterfly.  In both cases it took a lot of time to make the books, and for me, it would be easier if it wasn’t such a long and boring process.  Also, while I love the pictures, I often find myself wondering about the story behind the photo. That’s why I like Weeva – it lets me collect the stories that go with the pictures, and share the workload with family and friends.  I don’t have to do it all myself.  And the best part is that Weeva creates the books for me.   I get to skip the tedious process of construction.  Yay!
