My life has never been perfect, and I realize it probably won't ever be. My story to Supernatural, and anyone out there, starts two years ago, when everything in my life was going down the drain. My parents were fighting, blaming everything on me, I had no friends, no one to turn to, no one to talk to. I was being ignored at school by not just the students but my teachers as well, and anything I did seemed to be wrong in everyone's eyes.
I began to lose hope, and turned to self-harm. I knew it was bad, but it made everything disappear for those few moments I had to myself.
I later learned your body actually releases a chemical into your blood stream after a long series of self-harm, which is why many people accidentally kill themselves, or people find them in a pool of their own blood.
But there was one escape that I could turn to when I was particularly bad, when I couldn't drown out my parent's yelling by hiding in my room. And that was Supernatural.
There were other shows I watched as well, animes, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Merlin, Firefly, there are lots I can name, but at the time, it was Supernatural that kept me afloat. Each night, I would watch as two brother's fought past their differences to make the world safer for everyone. Who looked away from the past to walk steadily to the future.
It wasn't just about monsters and demons. It was about finding love where one might not find it, and keeping that love close to your heart.
I am proud to be a Supernatural fan, and I am proud to say that I am clean of self-harm, and I have found help.
I want people to know my story, but I especially want the Boys of Supernatural to know just what their story is giving to teenagers and even families around the world.
