I have to admit that I have encountered Leonard's work twice in my life. I used to sing "Suzanne" with a friend in high school. That was pretty much the end of my "relationship" with Leonard for a very long time. Then I saw "I'm Your Man" on PBS a few years back. It was wonderful and I saw how much the artists that performed really LOVED Leonard. And that caught my interest. I then went out and bought "The Essential Leonard Cohen." I absolutely LOVE that record. And I also bought "Old Ideas"--a record that always puts a smile on my face. So thank you, Leonard, for putting a smile on my face and on the faces of millions of others.
