CHAPTER :
Sir Francis Bryan and Joan Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald
With entries from:
Marie Moab   —   10 years ago

Sir Francis Bryan was cousin to Queen Ann Boleyn and Gr-Gr-Gr- Grandson of King Edward lll and Queen Phillippa of Hainault and Husband to Joan Fitzmaurice Fitzgerald known as Countess of Desmond, Countess of Ormond and Lady Bryan. While I had initially thought Sir Francis Bryan was from the O'Brien Clan it was actually his Wife Lady Joan through Amy O'Brien who married James Fitzgerald the 10th Earl of Desmond. I have not yet traced Amy O' Brien's family tree and hope there is a tree already done. Hopefully, I will find some cousins here who are either of the Fitzgeralds or Amy O'Brien's family. I don't think people were too happy with Sir Francis Bryan during his time except the King. Because of Sir Francis's support for the King and the fact that he withdrew support for his cousin Ann Boleyn he became hated by some. Those who supported Ann Boleyn lost their heads along with her. Had Sir Francis done the same, neither I nor any of my family members would be alive today to write on this page. Some of the descendants of Sir Francis Bryan came to America and married into the famous Boone family. One other descendant married into the family of President Abraham Lincoln via his Great Grandfather Virginia John Lincoln's Daughter Lydia. Benjamin Bryan married Lydia Lincoln and their child Hannah Bryan is my ancestor along with her Husband Henry McDaniel. Hannah was President Lincolns cousin. Everyone loved Hannah and Henry in the community they lived and they were well respected. I adored my Grandmother Thelma McDaniel as she was just like my Father, Kind, Patient, Wise and ever so loving. For all the long lost titles and riches the one thing you will always remember is love. Love given to you is priceless beyond any treasure. Thank you for welcoming us into your family and the opportunity to get to know you. Much love...your American Cousin.
