In the 70's in Undergraduate school Leonard was my go to guy when I was in a depressed and discouraged tailspin I would put on a LC LP and bottom out as he seemed more despondent than I. Older, and wiser now, I hope I appreciate that his dark imagery is actually a springboard to real hopefulness as well as a calm acceptance of the fact that not all of life is so lovely. And yet there is so much more that is positive.
