CHAPTER :
Complicated soul...

Have enjoyed Leonard Cohen for many, many years. I don't remember how I discovered him- that is strange, but I started with a book of his poetry, sitting in a large, comfy chair in Borders Books. His words touched my soul and have continued to do so. I approach his music differently than most. I read the lyrics first (again, as a poem) to get the tone and feel of his message. It is only then that I listen to the music.
I often wonder what Leonard thinks of his biography by Tim Footman. I found him to be a questioning soul, sometimes at war with himself. Am thinking that this is the definition of a true artist.
When my dearest friend and confidant of twenty-four years died suddenly at age 60 of a heart attack, I turned to Cohen's poetry and music, along with my Bible, to get me through. I was able to come out to the other side of my grief. Truly, thank you Leonard. Your works are healing, passionate, sometimes funny, but never boring. I wish you peace, health and happiness!
