CHAPTER :
I'm late, but I'm here.

I came to Leonard Cohen rather late in life. I'd heard the name over the years, but never felt any connection to it. And then, on a road trip, my husband played a new CD he'd bought. It was Leonard Cohen's London concert, but I didn't know that.. I listened . . . and listened . . . and listened . . . and when it was over, I turned to my husband and said, "I think I'm going to have to leave you and become a groupie." I'd never said that before, or even thought it. I had no idea who was singing, or what he looked like. It was the voice, the words, the music, the angelic back-up singers, the whole package. Upon returning home, I immediately ordered the DVD of the concert and we watched it through. I'd fallen hard for an elegant, gracious, dramatic, articulate, and, yes, handsome 78 year old man! .At age 70. I have no intentions of recovering from that fall. And my husband? I'm not really leaving, so he's fine with it. With every listen, it all just keeps getting better and better. Thank you, Leonard Cohen, for the generous sharing of your gifts.
