Dear Hayao Miyazaki,
I'm a 15 year old aspiring animator and artist. I wish to create animations and comics when I grew up. My parents were supportive, my friends were too. But still I somewhat felt scared. Ashamed. As if wanting to dream that big was shameful. No one was stopping me really, I think it was my own fears that held me back.
Until I started watching your movies. At first I didn't have much interest really. Thought your animations was just overrated. But one day I decided to watch my neighbor totoro. I cried because it was so beautiful. I'm well aware that I'm quite an emotional person but all the animations you've made has made me tear up. I never understood people who cried over beauty but now I did. Your animations were so detailed and gorgeous! I was a bit late to the crowd who enjoyed your animations... I didn't watch them when I was a child but it still affected me. I would feel multiple emotions in one animation! My favorite is Howl's Moving Castle ♡ I bought the art book for it for my birthday, well my parent's did and I cried because I felt so happy I'm to see a bit of behind the scenes of the animation!
I started to get inspired to create my comics and stories that I have daydreamed in my head for hours wondering if it'll ever come to life. I'll never know till I try really. Am I certain I'll be successful? No. But watching animations and the idea of making animations and comics make me so happy I can't help but follow it. I can't help remember what Seiji said in Whisper of the Heart. I don't know if I'll ever become the famous animator that I so wish to be but I'll try my best!
Your animations currently help and inspire me. I thank you for that. I wish to create animations and comics that'll inspire and help and fill people with joy like how your animations did!
