The first time I saw one of your films I was sick in bed with pneumonia, I was in middle school. My mother rented Princess Mononoke for me because I couldn't sleep much and nothing was on late at night. It was an amazing experience, sick as I was. The story and animation were beautiful. I cried. I went in search of other Miyazaki films when I was better. I found Spirited Away which has always been my favorite, Chihiro becoming Sen and getting her name back...and then giving Kohaku his always touched me, as well as the journey. A few years later I found out the you were doing my favorite childhood book, Howls Moving Castle. I was so excited. I had read the trilogy so many times. Even though your interpretation was very different from the book I still enjoyed it and Howl. As I look at all of the new anime today I wish we could go back in time. Current anime has a shallow feeling...like a harlequin novel or a bag of chips, your movies give me the feeling of reading a good long novel...deep. or a hearty, home cooked dinner. One of a kind. I guess it may seem silly but thats how I see it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work and the heart you have put into your movies.
